Crest Mortgages & Finance

Crest Financial Services recently took part in Akumin’s Professional Development Day, with Jessica, Paul, Patrick, Thomas, Lachlan and Joshua representing the team in Sydney.

The event delivered a full day of forward-thinking insights, practical strategies, and meaningful conversations designed to elevate the quality and impact of financial advice in an ever-changing environment.

The day was full of learning and networking with some key highlights mentioned below:

Legislative changes:

The TapIn team at Entireti presented an insightful update on the legislative changes affecting Self-Managed Super funds, exploring ways that SMSF’s can be effectively integrated into advice frameworks to improve client outcomes across wealth accumulation, tax and estate planning.

They explored case studies examining considerations for property strategies moving forward with the new changes for Limited Recourse Borrowing Arrangements no longer being allowed for residential properties. Along with identifying other opportunities where SMSFs are appropriate within broader client strategies and ways we can navigate a complex regulatory environment with confidence to provide the best outcomes for our clients.

Technology changes:

The Colin James Method Team provided a thought-provoking presentation on another of the largest factors we need to consider as a practice, Human Intelligence in the age of AI, and how we can best lead our teams into the future.

Exploring the different human skills, with a specific focus on communication to give the team a valuable insight on ways in which we can keep up to date with the rapidly changing technology of our time, while maintaining the core human element of financial advice which we value greatly.

Navigating Global Markets:

Pinnacle Investment Management presented a session on Global equity markets and the importance of simplifying investment strategies and turning market noise and off-putting headlines into long-term investing opportunities.

They stressed the importance of looking beyond the noise and the headlines, and shifting focus towards future engines of growth and presenting strategies to clients in ways which resonate with them to capitalize on these investment opportunities without getting caught up in the noise.

Overall, there will always be factors outside of our control which shape the advice we provide. The Crest Team will remain vigilant in adapting, educating and communicating with other professionals to best prepare ourselves to continue to support our clients. The Professional Development Day was another opportunity provided to us to do so, and the team benefitted from it greatly.
